Mantech & Federal/State Governments - Homeland Security Support

FEMAProtection Strategies Incorporated (PSI), through a contract with ManTech Security Technologies Corporation (ManTech), provided Homeland Security support to state and local governments by conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of critical facilities and infrastructure. In the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Federal government and also state and local governments realized that the attacks on the World Trade Center towers are just a prelude in an ever widening war on terror.

Protection Strategies Incorporated, a leader in this field, conducted such assessments in New York City, Michigan, and Vermont. PSI personnel identified critical infrastructure and proposed security and emergency management risk mitigation strategies at State Capitol facilities and mass transit and rail facilities. Homeland Security efforts included:

New York City, NY

The Port Authority of NY and NJHomeland Security initiatives for the New York City, Metropolitan Transit Authority, Long Island Railroad, and New York/New Jersey Port Authority to conduct Security Assessments/Survey of the existing subway, commuter rail systems and future Rail and Port Authority commuter stations and terminals serving the John F. Kennedy International Airport. Additionally, conduct Risk/Vulnerability Assessments, propose security upgrades and develop mitigation strategies to support the application for Hazard Mitigation Grant for FEMA funding.

Michigan

Homeland Security initiatives in the conduct of Vulnerability Assessments and propose security upgrades at over 20 State owned and leased Capitol Complex buildings, to include the Governor’s residence.

Vermont

Homeland Security initiatives included “defining the threat”, mitigation strategies, security vulnerability analyses, emergency and crisis response planning, and security-related technology integration, implementation, and deployment.
