Protection Strategies Incorporated (PSI) provides security-related technical and administrative support services to the Office of Health, Safety and Security (HSS) that include:
Personnel Security. PSI provides critical adjudication reviews of both classified and unclassified access authorization cases to determine whether a person is eligible for a DOE access authorization and/or eligible to access Sensitive Compartmented Information and also provides support in the development and implementation of key personnel security policies and directives.
Assessment and Integration Support. PSI provides analysis, planning, advisory and assessment activities in support of assessment and integration activities.
Field Assistance Support. PSI provides technical assistance in support of the Department’s assistance to field safeguards and security programs by participating in the development, implementation and maintenance of technical and operational plans and programs.
International Safeguards and Physical Protection Support. PSI provides technical support in International Safeguards and Physical Protection by assuring all aspects of the Foreign Visits and Assignments and Foreign Travel programs are managed and implemented in the highest professional manner.
Materials Control and Accountability (MC&A) Support. PSI provides technical and administrative assistance to the field, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and other international activities in the management and operation of the Nuclear Materials Management and Safeguards System (NMMSS) and other nuclear material and radionuclide data management systems.
Planning and Technology Development. PSI provides support in the planning, formulation and execution of the S&S technology development program, including Technical and Operations Security Support. Tasks include analyzing, developing, establishing, and promulgating DOE-wide S&S technical and operations security policy, procedures, and standards.
Due to the nature of the work, a DOE “Q” Clearance is required.
