Department of Justice

Protection Strategies Incorporated (PSI), under contract to the Department of Justice, conducted a comprehensive physical and personal security survey for a 460,000 square feet building in Washington D.C.  The building is being renovated for the Department of Justice, which is undergoing a consolidation of its offices in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  The Antitrust Division, one of the largest organizations slated to occupy this building, requested the services of PSI to provide guidance and recommend measures for the facility to implement in order to achieve a GSA Level-4 security status.

PSI was responsible for surveying the exterior and interior of the entire building including the parking garage, loading docks and perimeter zones for the development of a security control system.  The security control system is being designed to safeguard staff, visitors, computerized data and hardware assets, and the building against criminal activity, forced entry and other external threats. PSI made recommendations for the integration of the security controls to be interfaced with the Department of Justice’s current security monitoring system.  This integration includes intrusion detection devices with Balanced Magnetic Switches (BMS), glass breakage detectors, motion detectors, CCTV, duress alarms, cameras, mechanical locks, electric locks, card readers, key pads and mantraps.  Additionally, PSIperformed a Blast Analysis to assess the potential effects of direct and/or collateral damage and compromise to the structural integrity of the building.
